Tips for planning your writing time!

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of writers that produce material while balancing babies, bank accounts, web sites or other jobs.

As a independent writer you need to keep yourself creative, motivated and productive all while coming up with new ideas, writing articles, stories or ebooks.

It is important from the begining to learn to write regularly and determine a writing schedule for yourself and stick to it.

You may not be able to find the time to write every day but your success will be determined by the amount of time that you do spend writing.

Try not to write for less than one hour per day and you will be surprised at the amount of saleable material you can turn out in this time.

Choose the actual writing times that suit you best. All writers are different. Some work at four hour stretches of time, others work a proper eight day, while some do marathon stretches until they are finished.

If you find you work best early in the morning then develop a regular routine for writing at this time. Similarly if you work best at night then establish an evening routine.

Most articles will require research. Arrange research time in your writing schedule. Some research tasks can only be done during normal business hours, writing however is a different matter.

If you can only spare the time to write part-time or for only and hour a day take heart and remember!

William Faulkner wrote"sanctuary" part-time during the year he worked in a hot, sweaty boiler room. Anthony Trollope worked in the Post Office but wrote his classic vitorian novels before dawn or on his way to work. Phyllis Wheatley wrote her book of poetry while working as a slave...

Compared to these people how big are our own distractions, interruptions and other excuses we make for not getting on with earning a living from our writing.
